"'Slipgate' was one of my favorite tracks from Panopticon, and it was my immediate choice for a remix. I wanted do really do more with the selfish, sexualized lyrics and give the song a whole new feel. The vocals were re-recorded to be less manic and aggressive. The repeated line of 'I tell a lie' is meant to really showcase the character's single-minded, sociopathic approach to self-satisfaction. By eliminating the guitars and bass entirely, I was able to accentuate the already existing synth lines. I used a great deal of FM synthesis and analog-style drums to create more sinister, sleazy feel. While perhaps a little overexposed, the 808 style drums provided tom sounds that emulated the original tribal drumming while eliminating the raw, acoustic tone of the original. The choir sound is a recording of Volchitsa's voice, sampled and layered multiple times. The only elements I brought over from the original were the acoustic guitar (which fit right in with the new tone of the song) and a small snippet of the original vocals. I typically try to use as little as possible of the original tracks when doing a remix, and this was no exception."
